Introduction Modern English, sometimes described as the first global lingua franca,[18][19] is the dominant language or in some instances

even the required international language of communications, science, information technology, business, seafaring,[20] aviation,[21] entertainment, radio and diplomacy.[22] Its spread beyond the British Isles began with the growth of the British Empire, and by the late 19th century its reach was truly global .[3] Following British colonisation from the 16th to 19th centuries, it became the dominant language in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The growing economic and cultural influence of the US and its status as a global superpower since World War II have significantly accelerated the language's spread across the planet.[19] English replaced German as the dominant language of science Nobel Prize laureates during the second half of the 20th century[23] (compare the Evolution of Nobel Prizes by country). A working knowledge of English has become a requirement in a number of fields, occupations and professions such as medicine and computing; as a consequence over a billion people speak English to at least a basic level (see English language learning and teaching). It is one of six official languages of the United Nations. One impact of the growth of English is the reduction of native linguistic diversity in many parts of the world. Its influence continues to play an important role in language attrition.[24] Conversely, the natural internal variety of English along with creoles and pidgins have the potential to produce new distinct languages from English over time.[25]

That's why speaking English is very important. In social context, good English communication enable us to effectively share information, thoughts, feelings, needs and intentions. We can create close relationships and bond with family, friends and people at work. A good listener is almost alaways appreciated. If we are a good listener, we also tend to win friends as most people regard someone who listens to their problems, fear, joys and successes as a true friend. English communication also important in knowledge acquisition. The learning process often requires us to have an unquiring mind. Good English communication will help us acquire knowledge more effectively, especially when you are able to ask questions, express opinions and ideas and summarize information. Providing such feedback will enable our lecturers, teachers or instructors to gauge how well you understand what has been taught. Good listening skills will also help you comprehend course content better. Business and professional people depend a lot on English when they engage in different activities. Educationist in university and college deliver their lectures and hold tutorials, discusson, forums and seminar in English. Business people use english when they interact with customers and suppliers, make reports or give explaintions, participate in meetings and hold informal discussions with employers and employees speaking is an important skill when interviewing or training new employees, participating in social business discussion and giving public presentations or speeches. Listenibg is important for both employers and emplyees. As an employer, we need to listen to the suggestions, complaints and feelings of our employees. Conversely, an employee needs to listen to the intructions, demands and advice given by his superiors at work.

It is most effective when the sender of a message has good speaking skills and the receiver has good listening skills. How oral communication works Camp and Satterwhite (2002) explained that oral commincation is a two way process that requires both of a speaker and a listener. So. . oral communication therefore involves two crucial skills – listening and speaking. This paper will explain about the effectively ways to communicate in English and it divided in a few topics and sub topics below.
