Inspired by their home congregation, Starfield’s new songs are
accessible enough for corporate worship while offering listeners
a potent combination of substance and style. The substance turns
out to be the theme and title of the record - I will go. I Will Go
is a difficult song to sing and not act on. Ultimately, we hope to
provide perspective on how comfortable and convenient our lives
have become. With I Will Go, Starfield’s musical mission has never
been clearer. Instead of offering the masses yet another CD, the
band ventures out into a hurting world with an intentional message
that encourages listeners to step behind the confines of comfort for

Kathryn has been leading worship since 1997. She was mentored by Brian
Doerksen for a couple years at the end of the 90’s, and it was during this time
that she wrote the congregation favorite, “Hungry (Falling on My Knees).” She
has released two recordings on Integrity Music, Satisfy and I Belong. She is
busy being a Mum of two little girls, and along with her husband, Alan, she
pastors Causeway Coast Vineyard in Northern Ireland.
Abraham Laboriel
Abraham Laboriel is a world renowned bassist and the founder of the band
KOINONIA. He was born and raised in Mexico City where he received his
earliest musical training from his father, a gifted guitarist and composer.
He has performed and recorded with many jazz artists including George
Benson, Larry Carlton, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Grusin, Herbie Hancock, Al
Jarreau, Manhattan Transfer, Joe Pass, Joe Sample, Diane Schuur, and Sara
Vaughan. He was in fact voted by his peers in the LA Chapter of NARAS
as the “Most Valuable Player” in the Bass chair for the three years in a row,
joining Ray Brown and Chuck Domanico in that honor.

Paul may be seen regularly on many television specials with the Rickey
Minor All star Band – most recently “American Idol”, “America Has Talent.”
And “Duets” (Rickey Minor is shown with Paul and Patrice Rushen). Paul also
was music director for the Martin and Robert Townsend TV series and the
American Music Awards honoring Bob Hope. Paul’s solo career includes six
CD’s, the first of which received a Grammy nomination. He will soon release
his seventh CD “Lay It Back.” He also has participated in CD collaborations
with notables such as George Benson, Earl Klugh, and others.. His latest Blue
Note release included two singles which were in the top ten, and one of
which was number one and remained there for weeks. His third consecutive
single “Never too Much”,from the collaboration “Forever for always for
Luther” also achieved top ten status.

Gregg is a sought after drummer from Los Angeles. He has played for

Sarah MacIntosh, formerly the lead singer for a
band called Chasing Furies, now independent
artist and worship leader. After some life
changes, state changes, and focus changes she
has finally released a new cd, her first of all
original songs. Before moving to San Diego
with her husband Jonathan, she toured and
sang with Michael W. Smith on his Worship
Tour. She and her husband work with Horizon
Church in the San Diego area.

Kelly Carpenter is a musician, songwriter, and worship leader whose
songs have been featured on numerous inspirational recordings. He
is best known for having written “Draw Me Close (To You)” as well
as “Send Your Rain” and “Arise Oh Lord”. He is currently the worship
pastor at Vineyard Community Church in Shoreline, Washington. He
and his wife Merrilyn live in nearby Woodinville along with their two
dogs.

Bob traveled for 8 years with the contemporary Christian group GLAD
as a song writer, speaker, and arranger. He was a major contributor to
The A Cappella Project. Since 1985, he has served as a pastor. In 1997,
he moved to Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland to serve
as director of worship development for Sovereign Grace Ministries. His
currently equips pastors and musicians in the theology and practice
of congregational worship, and contributes to Sovereign Grace
recordings. Those have included Upward: The Bob Kauflin Hymns
Project, Worship God Live, and Valley of Vision. He also leads worship
at Covenant Life Church, led by Josh Harris, and writes a blog at www.
worshipmatters.com. He and his wife, Julie, have six children and four grandchildren.

A love and natural gift for the guitar landed Brewster a gig with
mainstream rocker Steve Perry (Journey) and led to offers from
mainstream rock labels all before he was 21. But Brewster had
made a commitment to Christ in his late teens, and instead took a
position at his local church as a sound technician. Lincoln signed
with Integrity Music Group in Mobile, AL, finding a label home
that allowed him to record the modern, rock-tinged worship for
which he has become known. In addition to his role as worship
leader each Sunday in his home church, Brewster is also serving
as a worship music instructor at various worship conferences
throughout the country.

Dove Award-winning songwriter Paul Baloche has written
hundreds of worship songs that have been featured on countless
albums. Songs such as “Open the Eyes of My Heart”, “Above
All”, “Hosanna”, and “Your Name” have quickly become church
favorites. Paul frequently travels the world teaching and leading
others in worship. In addition to being a songwriter, Paul has
developed a series of teaching DVD’s designed to help worship
teams increase their skill and confidence in leading others in
worship.

A gifted songwriter and musician, Brenton has written many
worship songs, including “Everlasting God,” “Lord, Reign in Me,”
“All Who Are Thirsty,” and “Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing).”
Everlasting God was released with Survivor and with Sparrow in
the States. In 2005 the Browns reluctantly left London and their
home church of Holy Trinity Brompton for California. Since then
they have been welcomed into the Horizon family of churches
and have travelled across the States and beyond leading worship
in churches as far afield as Sweden and Korea. 2008 saw the arrival
of a baby daughter called Bella, and Brenton’s second solo project,
‘Because of your love.’ Brenton has been lucky enough to have his
songs recorded by Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster. He has 5
songs in CCLI’s top 100.

Raised on the west coast of Canada in Abbotsford B.C., Brian
Doerksen has always had a passion for expressing worship through
music. In the late 90’s he lived in the UK for 2 years, where he
trained worship leaders and songwriters in the UK and Ireland and
produced ‘Hungry’ and “Come now is the Time”. After returning to
live in Canada, he continued to produce for Vineyard Music and
then did his first recording with Integrity in Dublin , Ireland called
“You Shine” in 2002. His songs include “Come, now is the time to
worship”, which is currently in the top 5 on the CCLI charts. Other
songs include ‘Hope of the nations’, ‘Faithful One’, ‘Refiner’s Fire’,
and ‘Hallelujah (Your love is amazing)’.

Andy began recording with Vineyard Music in the late 1980s.
He has participated on many Vineyard recordings, including
“The River Is Here”, “Blessed Be The Name”, “Eternity”,
“Name Above All” and ”All I Need”. In 2000, Andy released
a solo project called, “Night and Day”. In December of 2004,
Vineyard Music released Andy’s latest project, “In the Secret”,
which is a compilation of some old favorites plus a few newer
tunes. In the Spring of 1998, his family moved back to Langley,
B.C., Canada, to join the staff at the North Langley Vineyard.

Karen founded Musicians For Missions International (MFMI) in
1981 as a part of YWAM in Amsterdam, Holland. She states, “God
has called me to be a ‘Musicianary’; to seek those places where
others aren’t going and to disciple the national musicians, who can
then reach their own nations. I believe there are other Christian
musicians with that calling too. MFMI’s goal is to work with the
local church to facilitate these musicians into ministry, especially
“missions.” For more than two decades Karen has concentrated
her energies on developing MFMI. She has led many multinational
music teams on tours in more than 50 countries.
Above the Golden State
For Michael Watson, songwriter and lead vocalist of Portland,
Oregon- based band Above the Golden State, there has never
been an inkling of doubt as to why he is doing what he is
doing. We have no desire to bring glory to ourselves but to
join in with you and everyone else to glorify God together.

Mike Howerton is the lead pastor at Overlake Christian Church.
He’s been serving God full time since 1992 and spent six of
those years as College Pastor at Saddleback Church in Orange
County, California before joining the Overlake team in 2004. He
was educated at Pepperdine University and Fuller Theological
Seminary. The focus of Mike’s ministry is always to bring glory to
Jesus, to introduce people to the love and freedom he offers and to
inspire those already in a relationship of love with Jesus to live the
LIFE He offers and calls us into.

Jeff Berg is the president and founder of Ministry Centered
Technologies, Inc., a custom web development corporation located
in California. Jeff graduated from Biola University with a degree

Southwest Community Church. There he developed many systems
to help Southwest respond to response cards, sell tickets, check-in
children and plan worship. Jeff, his wife Shannon and their two year

Overlake Christian Church. He is also an award winning singer, producer,
songwriter and author. He is the cofounder of the Dove nominated

Why Do We Sing in Worship?

Why do Christians sing? Do you ever wonder
if God even likes our singing? He obviously
has better things to do than listen to our out-
of-tune voices belting out the same praise
songs over and over. Right?
Apparently not. The Bible mentions singing
over 400 times, including fifty direct
commands to sing God’s praise. And
because God is infinitely wise and good, his
commands are always for our benefit and his
glory.
God wants us to sing for a variety of
reasons, all of them good. But one of the
most important is to remember his Word.
Colossians 3:16 commands us to “let the
word of Christ dwell in us richly” as we
sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to
one another. There’s a connection between
singing and letting the word of Christ dwell
in us. Or any words, for that matter.
Ever notice how easy it is to remember
hymns you sang growing up, nursery rhymes,
Christmas carols, or pop songs you learned
as a teenager? Ever have trouble getting a TV
commercial jingle out of your head? There’s
a reason.
Music has a universally recognized
mnemonic power that scientists are just
beginning to understand. They’re discovering
that our brains are hard-wired to recognize,
categorize, and remember patterns in music
better than we remember patterns in words
alone.

the book, we produced a CD
of Galatians Scripture songs.
Later, I received an e-mail from
a woman in our church whose
husband lost his memory due
to a stroke. He couldn’t answer
the simplest of questions.
But when she mentioned,
