December 21, 2011 IMPORTANT RECYCLING AND SOLID WASTE INFORMATION Newburyport- For the weeks of December 26 and January 2, trash and recycling pick-up will be delayed for one day through-out each week. Monday’s trash and recycling will be picked up on Tuesday and, likewise each day thereafter will be a one day delay with Friday pick-up on Saturday. The downtown business district however will remain on Friday. If you have any questions or need pick up please call Mello Disposal for trash at 978-352-8581 and IPR for recycling at 800-933-3128. During the month of January, Christmas trees will be picked up on your regular trash day. Any trees picked up before January 13 will be brought to Spencer Pierce Little Farm (SPLF) in Newbury for a community wide bonfire sponsored by the Newbury Fire Department. The event will be held on Saturday, January 14 from 3 pm-9:30 pm at the Spencer Pierce Little Farm (SPLF) in Newbury. Newburyport trees will continue to be picked up after the 14th but those will be brought to the Wheelebrator disposal site in North Andover. If you would like your tree to go the bonfire and need your tree picked up or need help with your tree before the 14th please call the Newbury Fire Department at 978-462-2282. There will be a small fee for pick-ups. This event on Jan 14 is an open event for all to attend. All proceeds will go towards the purchasing of new fire equipment for the Newbury Fire Department. The museum and visitor’s center at SPLF will be open along with many vendors and activities taking place on the site of Tendercrop Farm’s Fields. For additional information on the event please call the Newbury Fire Department or visit www.newburyfirerescue.com. The Crow Lane Recycle Center will be open for the monthly Recycle Event on Saturday, January 7 from 8 am till noon. Electronics, white goods, metals, oil, oil based paint, bicycles and tires will be accepted. There will be no Recycle Event held in February. The next Recycle Event will be held Saturday, March 3.
