PIPES

A ‘pipe’ is a keyboard character that will take output from one command and use it with another command. To use a pipe, hold down the Shift key with the backslash key. Shift + \ will give you | Example: ls -la | less This command will take the output of ls -la and ‘pipe’ it into the less command. That will allow you to page through the output just like it was a file.
