Cold Hands, Warm Heart She sits surrounded by a winter’s dawn Cold drifts in with this morning The

naked trees give warning I sit – a speechless pawn She sits with her head in her hand Her elbow bends acutely on the concrete table She’s also cold, is she able To accept this cold life – does she understand? Cold is not synonymous with life The naked trees warn us of death But as I take in my deepest, icy breath Her smile takes the cold in strife So cold - I exhale to see a cloud She takes my hand with the one that’s free Her eyes show the sun to me Why is this silence so loud? She draws up close She whispers; her voice is steam That warms my ear. I silently scream I hear, “I love you” in a saving dose Winter tries to make a frozen Me This woman’s love keeps my soul ice-free
