Precautions for writing research report

Introduction:
Research report is a channel of communicating the research findings to the readers of the report. A good research report is one which does this task efficiently & effectively.

Research report must be prepared by keeping following precautions in view: 1.It should be long enough to cover the subject & short enough to maintain the interest.

2.Report data must always be in original form . 3. The material presented in the report must be self contained. 4.Abstract terminology & technical jargon should be avoided in the research report.

5. The report must provide a ready availability of the findings. 6.Proper layout of the research should be well throughout & in accordance with objective of research problem. 7. Good readability requires that there are no grammatical mistakes in the report.

8. The report must present the logical analysis of the subject matter. 9.A Research report should always show originality & should necessarily be an attempt to solve some intellectual problem.

10. The title of the report should reflect the content & it should be short as possible. 11. Towards the end, the report must also state the implications relating to the problem under consideration.

12. A clear relationship between the current project & limitations of earlier work should be made. 13. The citation style used in the report must be identical to be followed by the respected journal in the required field.

14. Graphs & Schematics already published in a work can be reproduced with permission. 15. Tabulation of data , equations, charts, figures can be used effectively to present results clearly & concisely.

16. Preparation of comprehensive written Research report is an essential part of valid research experience. 17.Appendices should be enlisted in respect of all technical data in the report.

18. Report must be attractive in appearance, neat & clean , whether typed or printed. 19.The various constraints experienced in conducting research study may also be stated in the report.

20. Index is also considered as essential part of a good report . 21.When the researcher uses programs written by others with/ without modifications the report must be clearly bring out the prominence with proper references .

22. The conclusions of the report should be brief & to the point. 23.The experimental details should be sufficiently detailed. 24.Objective of the study, the nature of the problem, the methods employed, must be clearly stated in the form of introduction at the beginning.

Conclusion:
In spite of all that has been stated in the precautions , one should always keep in view the fact Report writing is an art which is learnt by practice & experience, rather than by mere doctrination.
