Microsoft Pinpoint Profile Guidelines

To list your software application or professional service on Microsoft Pinpoint, you must create a Pinpoint profile. This guidance will help you create or edit your profile to best showcase your offerings to customers. Before you begin, please ensure your offering meets the Pinpoint definition for software applications and professional services. Your Profile Must Contain the Following: 1. Company Listing that describes your or your company’s qualifications (20‐word minimum and maximum of 250 words or 2000 characters) 2. Software Application or Professional Service Name (One‐word minimum and maximum of 10 words or 100 characters) 3. Software Application or Professional Service Listing which has two required components:  Long Description (20‐word minimum and maximum of 250 words or 2500 characters) *  Short Description (10‐word minimum and maximum of 50 words or 500 characters) * *Note: You will create a Long Description and a Short Description for each application or professional service you offer. 4. URL of a publicly available website providing information about your software application or professional service. Requirements for Listing Software Applications  Applications must not harm customers or be malicious, dishonest, invasive, obscene, or act in any manner restricted by the Terms of Use (http://www.microsoft.com/info/cpyright.mspx).  Applications must be built to run on Microsoft platform technologies, such as computer platforms (Win server, Win Azure), applications platforms (CRM, SharePoint, Exchange), and client platforms. Formatting and Grammar Requirements for All Profile Elements  Mark entries in bulleted lists with a “‐“ (hyphen bullet).  ** Do not use bold type.  No spelling, capitalization, punctuation, or grammar errors.  Do not include Microsoft product trademark symbols. For the Software Application or Professional Service Name: Capitalize the first letter of each word. If, however, your offering name is branded, please express the name exactly as it is branded
**Note: Microsoft Pinpoint does not currently accept “rich‐text” formatting. Please use “plain‐text” formatting rules when adding or updating your content.

Graphic Files Requirements When submitting graphic files for your company/provider logo and for your application or service screenshots, please submit graphic files in GIF or JPEG files format in the following sizes: Company logo file: Pixel dimension 100(w) x 100(h); Product or service screenshot: Pixel dimension 640(w) x 480(h). Language/Region Requirements Verify that your company/provider listing and application or service listings are written in English—or in the native language of your specific region. For example, only applications and services offered in the United States and described in English will be featured on the Pinpoint site in the United States.

Quick Tips for a Successful Pinpoint Profile
Focus on Customer Needs The key to attracting customers is to describe your offerings in succinct, business relevant, value‐driven terms.  Tell customers exactly how your company’s offerings address their needs  Write like you are speaking directly to a customer: “We specialize in...”; “Our app solves the specific industry need for...”  List the platforms and Microsoft technologies your offering builds on.  Avoid technical jargon—use everyday language, even if you are describing something highly technical.  Highlight benefits, not features. You can upload a feature spec document directly to your profile.  Write in present tense. Avoid exclamation points. Avoid repetition of words.
