Resorts World New York is in discussions with New York State to develop an integrated mixed-use complex adjacent to the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York The New York International Convention and Exhibition Center (NICE). Preliminary plans calls for Resorts World to construct the 3.8 million square foot NICE with up to 3,000 hotel rooms, allowing New York to finally compete for the kind of large conventions that have until now taken their shows elsewhere. This $4 billion project would be financed by Resorts World, using a combination of debt and equity. At a minimum, the project would create more than 10,000 construction jobs and 10,000 direct permanent jobs. The project would create tens of thousands additional indirect jobs in Queens County and throughout the New York City Metropolitan area, and bring untold billions to the City and State of New York in tax and tourist revenue. As with the Resorts World New York Casino, RWNY would be committed to hiring individuals locally in Queens and New York City, specifically focusing on hiring minorities and women. The project would be constructed in two separate phases. The first phase is 2.6 million square feet, and the second phase is 1.2 million square feet for a total of 3.8 million square feet. The completion of the first phase of the New York International Convention and Exhibition Center of 2.6 million square feet is slated, at the earliest, for November, 2014 on land which is currently leased to Resorts World New York .
The construction of the first 1,000 room hotel at the New York International Convention and Exhibition Center is slated for November, 2015. RWNY and the state would work alongside the MTA to help fund and introduce uninterrupted subway service between Midtown Manhattan and the New York International Convention and Exhibition Center.
