In the late Fall of 2011, public opinion began to turn against the NDAA Bill (National Defense Authorization

Agreement), despite a few provisions which keep soldiers paid and fed and sexual assault in the military addressed properly. Why? The other provisions, naturally.

‡ ‡

Indefinite detention of suspected terrorists (including Americans) funding contractors and third party intelligence agencies (Blackwater memories anyone?), and get this.. More Anwar-Al-Awlaki type scenarios. Who is that?

‡

If you don't recall, he's the American who professed to be planning attacks on the homeland and was rather open about it. The US Gov't, rather Obama, ordered for his execution and it was carried out without any resemblance of habeas corpus. It was as if the powers that be had enough with his mouthing off and decided to put him in his place. Problem is, he was an American citizen and was never afforded citizen rights that we are all guaranteed under the Constitution. Back to NDAA now, if you couple the Al-Awlaki event with the passing of this NDAA bill, things look rather grim in America right now. Hit lists, indefinite detention, the 4th, 5th, 6th, and the 8th Amendment all being superseded by the PATRIOT ACT and now NDAA. It's a thick broth boiling and the recipe is elimination of the empire. Of course, the usual pundits will decry this as "business of the day" to retain freedom and liberty. But I'm wondering.. when do we start taking the words of James Madison seriously? When does the New American Century come to a swift close by the hands of those who vote, mobilize, and pay for the wheels of government to stay in session to pass draconian bills like this?

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. -James Madison
