HOW IS THE GENRE OF THE FILM CONSTRUCTED?
‡ The genre of the film is a mystery thriller. The genre of the film is constructed in the way that the opening credits don¶t show any pictures just writing on the wall leaving us with no knowledge of who that characters are-leaving a sense of mystery.

WHAT DO THE OPENING TITLES SHOW, VISUALLY? HOW IS NARRATIVE ENIGMA CREATED?
‡ Visually, the opening titles show names on wallpaper, however there are children ripping the names out of the wallpaper. ‡ This creates a sense of mystery as we don¶t know who the children are. ‡ Narrative enigma is created when the wallpaper is being ripped we get a sense that thoughts and ideas have to be ripped away in order to fin out the truth.

WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF THE MUSIC?
‡ The music in the opening credits is very eerie and chilling, adapting to the genre of thriller. ‡ The sound of the ripping paper and the sound of the gong emphasises what is being said on the wall and gives a sense of mystery.

HOW HAS THE TYPOGRAPHY BEEN USED?
‡ Some of the letters are in lower case and some in capitals. This makes the writing look extremely disjointed, showing the childlike form. ‡ Also the writing has no style of specific font again creating a sense of mystery to the audience.

HOW HAS THE SEQUENCE BEEN EDITED?
‡ When the next set of words come onto screen, the transition is the shadow of the childs hand reaching out and ripping the paper. ‡ This gives a sense of mystery because the audience don¶t know whether it is meant to be a real child, a ghost or some kind of monster

WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE OPENING SEQUENCE PROVIDE?
‡ The opening sequence doesn¶t provide much information apart from the name of the film and the names of people involved with the making of the film.
