09 May 2011 RE: Sophie Sweatman Dear Sir/Madam, Sophie Sweatman has been employed as a freelance writer for

Hearing Times, the only national newspaper for deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK, since July 2010. In this time she has submitted many well researched, accessibly written and thought provoking articles and interview. Particularly well received by Hearing Times readers was Sophies interview with Jacob Casselden, a young actor who was born Deaf. This interesting and accessible piece explored the challenges faced by the 23 year old as he pursues his career on stage and in front of the camera. Sophie always pitches relevant ideas and reliably meets the deadline. She provides content which needs little editing and is willing to discuss any changes needed. As our 23,000 readers are mainly deaf and hard of hearing people it requires good communication, understanding and the ability to be flexible in order to produce copy that is of interest to our circulation. Sophie does this with each piece she submits. An efficient and reliable member of the Hearing Times freelance team, Sophie is a pleasure to work with.
