Bills of Interest
HB1380– Encourages the use of local produce in Hawaii schools by establishing a “farm-to-school program” in the department of agriculture and “Hawaii-grown fresh fruit and vegetable program” in the department of education. HB978– Allows Kula Hospital to lease its medical clinic to Malama I Ke Ola Health Center. More members of the community will be able to receive the medical services they need.

Aloha Aina Earth Day
Aloha Aina Earth Day is a recycling community clean-up and fundraising event. Please bring your recyclable waste, help our environment, and trash into cash for our school! The event will take place in Upcountry Maui on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at King Kekaulike High School. All proceeds will benefit King Kekaulike High School. More details will be forthcoming as the date of the event approaches. We are expecting to collect the following materials : Scrap metal, bicycles and appliances Beverage containers Cooking oil Cellular phones Printer cartridges Newspaper, cardboard, telephone books and magazines Used eyeglasses and hearing aids All kinds of batteries E-waste: computers, printers, etc. Usable clothing and household items Books Plastic bags
