Our Fund announces a $50,000 matching gift program for Valentine’s Month to support the local LGBT community
Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 18, 2012) – During the month of February, 2012, Our Fund will be offering matching gifts from new donors in an effort to increase philanthropic giving towards our local LGBT non-profit organizations. Donors who have not contributed during the past 18 months to a local non-profit organization providing services to the LGBT community will have their gift matched dollar for dollar to a maximum of $1,500. Each gift must be at least $500 and the maximum amount each organization can receive from Our Fund is $12,000. “A regional study conducted on the west coast estimated that over 97% of the LGBT community did not contribute to local LGBT causes. If this holds true here in South Florida, we have to think creatively on how we can increase local giving.” explained Anthony Timiraos, CEO/President of Our Fund. “If we can change this statistic by just 1%, we can make a significant difference in our community.” Funding for this program comes from the generosity of the First 100 Funders at Our Fund. This is a developing group of supporters who believe in the mission and purpose of Our Fund and have pledged their support for a period of three years by committing a significant annual contribution. Half of their contribution is dedicated to supporting startup costs and initial operations of Our Fund, the remaining half is dedicated to promoting philanthropy throughout our community. “This matching program is an opportunity for our local non-profit organizations to rally their staff, boards and current donors and reach out in our community to raise a total of $100,000.” says Timiraos. Information about joining the First 100 Funders and this matching gift program is available at

Our Fund’s mission is to promote a culture of philanthropy by uniting donors with organizations supporting the LGBT community. Focused on expanding philanthropy in South Florida and working to develop stronger non-profit organizations, South Florida’s only LGBT community foundation has been established to help build endowments that support donor’s charitable interest and organizations providing services throughout the LGBT community.
