REBUILDING PLAN BEE US PARTNERS HELPED EMPOWER 179 WOMEN BEEKEEPERS IN 2011

US Partners Contributed 554 Beehives to 179 Beekeepers Hashoo Foundation continues to support the beekeeping community in Gilgit-Baltistan during this difficult time by providing new beehives, helping the families enroll their children back in quality schools, providing training to rebuild and improve their honey production. Our US partners contributed 554 beehives to help 179 beekeepers recover their livelihood and kick-star their honey enterprise. In 2011, 151 beehives were distributed to 71 beekeepers in the villages of Mominabad, Danyore, Mohammad Abad, and Sultanabad in Gilgit, and Skardu, and had an indirect impact on more than 557 dependents. 160 of their children now have access to quality education. In February 2012, 403 beehives will be distributed to another 108 beekeepers in Gilgit and Skardu. The beehives are expected to produce 7,554 Kg. of honey during the harvesting season. This stage of the project will have an impact on 912 dependents.

Thanks to the generous contribution of our US partners in 2011, 179 women beekeepers are projected to produce and sale Kg. 9,972 in 2012
