Copy-Editing Internship Summer 2012


Mission Statement To prepare college juniors and seniors for entry into the more technical world of online production by providing a deep understanding of the dynamic functions of producing news pieces, writing stories, and, most importantly, editing those pieces. Copy-Editing - Writing/editing/distributing press releases and website information as directed. - Copy-writing and proof-reading of press releases, collateral materials and website. - Assist in the development of new promotional materials. - Establish photography archive. - Organization of media announcements and events. - Answering informational/media request. - Continuous maintenance of media listings and contacts (regional, national, and international) - Tracking and organizing press clippings. Our Goal with this internship program is allow individuals to be exposed to an exciting world of technical production. We will look for the following: - Minimum 2.5 GPA - Willingness to commit fully to the program and work hard. - Professionalism - Prior experience not necessary, but valued. - Amazing interview skills; self-presentation is important. 40-60 Hours/Week will be the average for the interns that we hire this summer. The First Wire is still within its first year and the intern will become a valued member of our team, contributing and adding their own thoughts, ideas, etc. when they feel it appropriate.
