Fidler Launches the People’s Campaign at Volunteer Canvass Kickoff
(Brooklyn, New York) The power of the people was in full force today, as dozens of supporters from the local community joined NYC Councilman Lew Fidler at the Volunteer Canvass Kickoff for his campaign for New York State Senate. "It is an honor and privilege for me to have represented the people of our community in the halls of government," said Councilman Fidler. "With your support, we are going to restore the faith of the people throughout the district in common sense government that people can truly trust." Packed with comunity members and neighbors from across the district, the Fidler campaign headquarters opened its doors to officially begin its Volunteer Canvass Kickoff. Covering all corners of the district, volunteers took to the streets in support of the Filder campaign. Fidler warmed the crowd on this cold winter’s day with a rousing address about his “four Cs” of community service: “You have to have Common sense. You’ve got to Communicate. You’ve got to have Character. And you’ve got to have Chutzpah.” In closing, Fidler added, “this crowd has all of that, and we’re bringing it from Brooklyn to Albany.” The volunteers were dispatched across the district, knocking on doors, bringing the campaign from the people to the people. Filder also encouraged all those looking to join the campaign to contact Tom Schnurr at (718) 758-4479. Councilman Fidler has been endorsed by over 266 community members, activists and faith leaders in the district, including Former Mayor Ed Koch. Councilman Fidler is running for the recently vacated 27th State Senate District. The special election to fill the vacant seat has been called for March 20th.
