Topic: What is your vision about India 10 years from now?

India houses one of the world¶s hottest economies ± one increasingly mentioned in the same breadth as China. As India continues on its current high growth path, over the next decade, the Indian market will undergo major transformations. The India story till recently was driven by the success of the Indian software industry, however a revolution in Indian industry has begun. While the opportunities are vast, for brevity, this essay will discuss my vision about India a decade from now. India¶s impressive qualifications: a liberalizing and fast growing economy and a deep talent pool of responsive, enterprising, English speaking graduates. These will increasingly add allure to India, as a global R&D hub. A decade from now, I envision that the entire R&D package will be readily available in India in contrast to the inexpensive solutions to R&D bottlenecks, which it currently offers. As such, it will acquire equal status with R&D hubs in Europe and United States. The entry of vast numbers of new consumers into the world economy from India will also make it one of the most important opportunities available to global consumergoods companies, 10 years from now. With rising incomes, poverty reduction and middle class growth, India will provide rewards for manufacturers who innovate, adapt and develop a deep understanding of India¶s new consumers. Perhaps the most attractive aspect of India¶s growth is that the history of its market is yet to be written. The vision I have described ± India as a R&D hub and key consumer market ± represents the greatest opportunities that India will present. Today¶s policy choices will determine the sustainability of India¶s growth surge and the achievement of this vision. As such, the financial sector will play a crucial role in underpinning growth by channeling domestic and foreign capital into productive investments.
