Ecclesiastes 2:17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought unde r the sun is grievous unto me: for
all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better f or me to die than to live. (Jon 4:3) Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? (Jon 4:4) So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there m ade him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would be come of the city. (Jon 4:5) And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it mi ght be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was excee ding glad of the gourd. (Jon 4:6) But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gou rd that it withered. (Jon 4:7) And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east w ind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in him self to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. (Jon 4:8) Jonah 4:6-11 And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jon ah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So J onah was exceeding glad of the gourd. (7) But God prepared a worm when the mor ning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. (8) And it ca me to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to d ie, and said, It is better for me to die than to live. (9) And God said to Jon ah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angr y, even unto death. (10) Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night: (11) And should not I spare Nineveh, that gre at city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern bet ween their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
James 4:14-15 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (15) For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. "For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life: dure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." (Psa 30:5) weeping may en
Even as the psalmist says in prayer to the LORD our GOD: "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are ple asures for evermore." (Psa 16:11)
"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall b e: but we know that, when He (Jesus) shall appear, we shall be like Him (Jesus) ; for we shall see Him (Jesus) as He (Jesus Christ) is." (1 John 3:2) John wrote this after the ascendation of Christ Jesus and after the Pentecost ex perience in the upper room. (So John is NOT talking about the Holy Spirit of Je sus poured out during the upper room experience of the first Pentecost) Many will try to deny that Christ is coming again. But our hope and our comfort is in the TRUTH of His soon return. John says we will be "LIKE HIM".....like His glorious body, immortal and incorru ptable, powerful, glorious, and spiritual, free from all imperfections, sorrows, afflictions, and death, and in perfect knowledge of divine things, LIKE HIM in complete holiness. (no we have not yet attained...but we will if we press on) Job says it this way..."And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:" (Job 19:26) Paul says it this wasy...."For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also w e look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, t hat it may be fashioned like unto His (Jesus') glorious body, according to the w orking whereby He (Jesus) is able even to subdue all things unto Himself." (Php 3:20-21) NOTICE IT IS THE WORK OF GOD and NOT THE works of man... Paul continues to explain..."It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." (1 Cor. 15:44) Jesus Himself says..."I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Rev 1:8 ) (Remember Jesus says this to John some several years AFTER Pentecost ...AFTER th e outpouring of His Spirit.) The Gospels and Acts are the books of His first advent, in the flesh, and in the Spirit. The Revelations of Jesus Christ to John; "The Apocalypse" is the book of His se cond advent and the events leading up to it. Daniel was given the vision of the nations, while John is given the prophesy of the Church age.
