SWINGING GATE

BASIC FORMATION: 1. Our PAT team will line up in the Swinging Gate formation immediately following a touchdown. 2. If either fake is to be run, the ball will be snapped by R only when he is ready. 3. The linemen take 1 foot splits and must be on the LOS. Stand upright and stagger the inside foot back. 4. The 4-Back aligns 5 yards outside the hash and 1 yard off the ball. 5. The R sets the ball and then takes a 2 point stance with his elbows on his knees, waiting for the holders call. 6. The holder aligns behind the R 7 yards deep. 7. On Cover 2, the ball is snapped by the R across his body to the 2-Back. 8. On Cover 3, the ball is snapped by the R between his legs to the holder. 9. On Cover 3, the RT and RG must cross the field to the right, staying behind the LOS, in order to cover in case of an interception or fumble.

CALLS BY THE HOLDER "COVER 1" 1. If the holder wants to shift everyone back to our regular PAT alignment, he will call "Cover 1" twice followed by "Ready," at which time everyone will clap their hands toghether and say "Break." 2. Everyone will then shift over into our normal PAT alignment. "COVER 2" 1. After the holder calls "Cover 2" twice, the R will grip the ball and when he is ready, snap it across his body to the 2-Back. 2. The 2-Back will give a "Go" call when the ball is in the air to alert the linemen to begin blocking. 3. The linemen will wedge block straight ahead. "COVER 3" 1. After the holder calls "Cover 3" twice, the R will grip the ball and when he is ready, snap it between his legs to the holder. 2. The 4-Back will run a deep hook to the back of the endzone. 3. The R will run a hook to the back of the endzone. 4. The 2-Back will come off the RT, cross the goal line and drag 1 yard deep into the endzone. 5. The LE will drag across the field at the back of the endzone. 6. The holder will take the snap and run at an angle to the flag. If he can score by running, score immediately. If he feels pressure from the inside, look to throw inside. If he feels pressure from the outside, look to throw to the outside. He can also pitch the ball to the trailing "kicker" who then has the same options as the holder.
