Communications Intern for Soulforce Equality Ride D.C.

-based public relations firm seeks recent college graduate for communications/PR assistance on the 2012 Soulforce Equality Ride, a nationwide social bus tour. Soulfource, a non-profit organization committed to the freedom of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people from political and spiritual oppression, is commencing its fifth Equality Ride this spring. The intern will travel with the Equality Riders across the country as a vital link of communication and liaison between the Riders on the ground and the consulting PR firm in D.C. Must be available to be on the bus for entire tour: March 4 ± May 4, 2012. As an intern on the Equality Ride, you will: y Gain valuable, professional communications skills y Connect with some of the foremost LGBT and allied leaders y Understanding and appreciation of intersectionality in justice work and diversity y Gain significant experiences, networking skills, and insight into potential career paths y Spend time doing substantial work Requirements: y Understanding of public relations and non-profit communications y Strong writing skills with ability to write press ready documents (press releases, advisories, availabilities, etc.) y Bachelor¶s degree in communications-related field: journalism, public relations or marketing y Ability to take initiative y Team player y Detail-oriented nature Travel, housing and food provided.
