Strong Roots
Both firms were founded decades ago – Wells Manufacturing in 1925, and Bloomfield Industries in 1933. This combined experience in the industry has given the company a reputation for meeting the needs of foodservice companies worldwide, it says. Wells Manufacturing founder George F. Wells invented and patented a waffle baker in 1925, which ultimately launched the company into the commercial appliance market, the company states. “The firm moved in 1968 to Verdi, and was later purchased by Beatrice Foods Co.,” the it says. Bloomfield then became part of Chicago-based Specialty Equipment Cos. Inc. and merged into the Verdi operations in 1993. “Today, Wells/Bloomfield continues to focus on research and development to meet changing market needs,” the company explains. “Paul Angrick, president of Wells/Bloomfield, sees a growing market for compact foodservice equipment for nontraditional food locations.” Wells Manufacturing is best known for products in electric warming and cooking, such as fryers, griddles, convection ovens, broilers, food warmers, toasters, hotplates, waffle bakers and similar products developed specifically for chain

rom its headquarters in the “quiet community” of Verdi, Nev., Wells/Bloomfield says it has become a leading foodservice equipment manufacturer, with products used both nationally and internationally by heavy hitters in the restaurant and foodservice industry. The company today is the result of a 1993 merger between Verdi-based Wells Manufacturing Co. and Chicago-based Bloomfield Industries. The operation was purchased in 2007 by the Middleby Corp., and was renamed Wells/Bloomfield LLC.
