Justin Lyman Mr. Neuburger English 102.

102 1 February 2012 ³On Dumpster Diving´ Lars Eighner In Lars Eighner¶s ³On Dumpster Diving´, he tells how he survives off of the trash Americans throw away. He talks about how Americans are wasteful in how we throw away food that might be expired by a couple of days or that is perfectly good. While diving, he finds all kinds of thing that he can eat and survive off of. He starts diving ³«by pulling pizzas out of the Dumpster behind a pizza delivery shop.´ The pizza place would throw out perfectly good pizzas still in the box. College students are also wasteful as Eighner states, ³Some students, and others, approach defrosting a freezer by chucking out the whole lot.´ Those college students toss out perfectly good items, especially around breaks, because they are worried it might go bad over the break or it might already be bad. This clarifies that we are all wasteful as Americans in what we are throwing away. Through Eighner¶s essay, hopefully Americans will realize how wasteful we can be. Works Cited Eighner, Lars.
