A rare early flurry for the Jets on Marc-Andre
Fleury as Kyle Wellwood and Alex Burmistrov
give them a 2-0 lead just over eight minutes in.
But the Pens are a dangerous ofensive team
and they respond with goals from Dustin Jefrey
and James Neal to tie the game.
1ST PERIOD SHOTS: JETS 10, PENS 14
The Pens take over the game in the period
with goals from Chris Kunitz and Kris Letang
before the ten-minute mark. After Tim
Stapleton scores a softie on Fleury to cut the
lead to one, Evgeni Malkin scores a breakaway
beauty to restore Pittsburgh’s two-goal lead.
2ND PERIOD SHOTS: JETS 4, PENS 15
To say the goalies had a rough outing
Saturday afternoon is an understatement.
Byfuglien gets the Jets within one before
Richard Park and Jordan Staal score to put
the game out of reach. Bryan Little and Kris
Letang exchange goals to make it an 8-5 final.
3RD PERIOD SHOTS: JETS 11, PENS 10
3 STARS
EVGENI MALKIN
One goal and four
assists. Without a
doubt, he is the best
player in the league
right now.
KRIS LETANG
The defenceman
provided some ofence
for the Pens, picking
up a pair of goals and
an assist.
CHRIS KUNITZ
Recorded a goal and
three assists. It must
be fun playing on the
same line as Malkin.
