Each team must provide a brief statement about who did what. In addition, each individual on the team must submit a 200 word maxpaper to be handed in separately from the binder. The paper should explain what part of the project you did and an assessment of how the team worked as a whole. Choose your teams wisely. The requirements are the same for teams and students wishing to work solo unless specified below. Choose one of the following films. All, are on reserve in McHenry. TANGLED THE INCREDIBLES MARY POPPINS ATLANTIS THE LOST EMPIRE WALL-E THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG POCAHONTAS Part I. Story & Character Analysis of the film A. Write a Story analysis. character analysis of Mickey/Goofy and Donald found on eCommons.)

Part II: The Preshow A. Design the queue area. Identify the location of the attraction (i.e. Pirates is in New Orleans Square). How are you going to build anticipation for the experience? How will you reinforce the attraction and make the queue part of the experience. What is the mood you want to create? Will it be a switchback? Will there be interactive portions? Use video? Provide a 200

word narrative along with supporting sketches/images (10 images for groups; Two images for students working solo). B. Design the costumes for the cast members who get you on (or in) and off (or out) of your attractions. How are their costumes setting the mood and reinforcing the story? Is it time specific? groups/two for solo)

Part III: The Show (The heart of the attraction) A. What is the story of your attraction? This is not necessarily the story of the film. How will you maintain the integrity of character? B. If so, what will it look like? C. Identify how you will control the gaze of the audience. What will guest see? D. How will you incorporate the animation from the film? E. What is the sound design? What music will you use? Be specific. F. Any special effects? Be specific. Use examples from other Disney Resorts Attractions
to illustrate your point (i.e the Peppers Ghost technique used in The Haunted Mansion or audio-animatronics as used in Small World or Pirates of the Caribbean)

G. How long is the ride? If necessary provide a map of your attraction. H. If you are doing a restaurant you must provide a detailed menu and state your reasons why this food is important. You must design the interior (including dcor) and exterior of the building. There MUST be an interactive portion to the restaurant that makes it an event/show/attraction not just a character meal. Narrative 700 words (part A should not exceed 200 words) Create a storyboard/ 3-D models/dioramas/or digital model of your attraction. Part IV: The Post Show What will the guests see/do after they leave the attraction? Why? How will you reinforce the experience and entice them back? Provide a 200 word narrative with three images/sketches (solos one image). Design a piece of merchandise guest can purchase. Provide a 200 word narrative along with designs for three pieces of merchandise (solos design one and 100 word narrative). YOUR Presentation: Two Options: You may present your attraction on tri-fold science project board. Use one side for The Pre-Show, the middle for the Show, and the final panel for the post-show. This allows the table space in front of the board to be used for 3D representations or more images.

1.

2.

You may do a video/keynote/power point presentation. You will need to turn in a working DVD of your presentation.

For both options: You will turn in the narrative portions of your projects to your TAs in a binder with each section clearly marked. Please include word count per section. Make sure all the names (and student id numbers) are on the papers. Typos and poor syntax will result in a lower grade. You may pull images from other attractions (including non-disney ones) to illustrate your points. Provide sketches, research, etc. The more visual aids (images/sketches) the better. You may use collages of found images from magazines, etc to illustrate your points.

*****YOU MUST CHOSE YOUR FILM, YOUR TEAM AND STYLE OF PRESENTATION BY FEB 28 AND INFORM YOUR TA.
