Biography of Steve Jobs Steven Paul Jobs was an American business manager and inventor born on February 24, 1955 to a Syrian, Addulfattah Jandali. He was later adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Jobs attended Cupertino Junior High School and Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. Later, he was hired to work at Hewlett-Packard Company. After graduating from high school, Jobs was enrolled into Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He dropped out after one semester. Moreover, in 1974, he began attending meetings of the Homebrow Computer Club with his long time friend, Steve Wozniak. Jobs had a deep-seated interest in technology; thus, he took a job as a technician at Atari Inc. With the money earned, Jobs then traveled to India in search of spiritual enlightenment. He took on his previous job at the manufacturer of video games upon returning to California. In 1976, Jobs founded Apple Computers Co. in the family garage. In the late 1970s, Jobs with Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula and others, designed and developed the first commercially successful line of personal computers. Later in 1984, after loosing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1984, Jobs resigned from Apple. After his resignation, Jobs decided to wanted to change the hardware industry. He founded a computer platform company by the name of NeXT, specializing in higher education and business market. Furthermore, Steve Jobs invested more than $250 million into the company. However, the company was a commercial washout; hence, he was bitterly disappointed with the company. In 1996, Apple announced that it would buy NeXT for $429 million, bringing Jobs back to the company he co-founded. Later, in 1986, he acquired Pixar Animations Studios, a computer graphics company, which had gone to produce animated movies such as Toy Story,Toy Story 2 and The Incredibles,to name a few. Afterwards, Steve Jobs wanted to do another round of revolutionizing in the music industry. He introduced the iPod in 2003. Later, he came up with iTunes, a huge success still. Steve Jobs continued to drive forward the development of products that are both functional and elegant.

Brief History of Apple Inc.


Apple Inc. is an American corporation that designs and manufactured computer hardware, software and other electronics. Furthermore, the company headquarter is located in Cupertino, California, with 284 retail locations, spanning 10 different countries. The co-founder of this innovative and extremely successful company is Steve Jobs. Steven Jobs and Steven Wozniak had been friends since high school and both were interested in electronics. Steve Jobs later got a job for Atari Inc. after dropping out of college. In the meantime, Wozniak had been involved in computer-design for some time as well when, in 1976, he designed what had become Apple I. Jobs insisted that he and Wozniak would try to sell the machine; thus, on April 1, 1976, Apple Computers was born. In 1977, Apple II debuted at a local computer show. This impressive machine, came in a plastic case which include color graphics, making it the first of its kind. With the increase of sales, came an increase in company size. By 1980, when the Apple III was released, Apple had several thousand employees and was beginning to sell computer abroad. Unfortunately, in 1981, the saturated market made it more difficult to sell computers; hence, Apple was forced to lay off 40 employees. Later, Steve Jobs became chairman of Apple computers. After, in 1984, Apple launched the Macintosh. It was, without question, one of the greatest masterpieces ever created by Apple. However, in 1989, Apple launched the Macintosh Portable. This so called bulky portable computer was not well-received by the public. Despite the lack of interest shown by the public, Apple continued to work on a new portable design, later coming up with the PowerBook in 1991. This product was an incredible success! In addition, Apple introduced System 7, an upgrade of the operating system that introduced new networking capabilities and added color to the interface. In 2001, Apple launched the iPod digital audio player, which became a phenomenal success, selling more then 100 million units in six years. It didnt end there, within two years, Apple introduced iTunes store, which enabled people to download songs on the internet. Moreover, on January 10, 2006, the MacBook Pro was introduced, making it the first Apple computer to feature Intel Core Duo CUP. A year later, the Apple iPhone was launched, followed by the iPad. On June 7, 2010, the new iPhone 4 models were on display. Apple Inc. had proven to be a highly successful and innovative company with a net income currently standing at $6 billion US.

Entrepreneurial Qualities
Apple has become the most successful company it its industry. We can conclude with confidence, that Steve Jobs is a successful entrepreneur. He has possessed many of the qualities that were necessary for his on going success. First, Steve Jobs is a big risk taker. This is an important characteristic to possess. In the course of doing a business, you will always come across a number of challenges and problems, demanding a resolution that may result in an unfavorable outcome. Second, Jobs had a willingness to learn new ideas and accept new realities and viewpoints. Third, an essential characteristic of a successful entrepreneur is the amount of enthusiasm, zeal and passion they have for their business. Moreover, Steve Jobs also had patience. He knew that nothing was going to happen over night. When you start a business, you need to realize that a business takes time; hence, you may be doing it for the rest of your life. Surly, a successful entrepreneurs should have the patience required. Lastly, creativity was an important factor processed by Jobs. To be successful, you will need to be innovative. These factors have contributed to Jobs success as an entrepreneur.
