Introduction DOW Medical College .
History y Dow Medical College is a constituent college of the Dow University of Health Sciences. y In 1941 this medical school was given the status of medical college . established on 29th December 2003 y Dow Medical College (DMC) is the oldest medical college in Sindh and the second oldest in the country y It was established at Hyderabad Sindh in 1881.
METHODOLOGY y First year students (n=20) of DOW were invited to participate in the study y (GHQ) which consisted of 12 questions was used as the screening instrument y The data was analyzed using SPSS .

CONCLUSION y It is revealed that academic problems were greater sources of stress in first year medical students compared to non-academic problems. . y The study provided scope for adopting strategies intended to reduce students stress.
