Thursday March 8, 2012 through Sunday March 11, 2012

In the Village at Bay Harbor, on the scenic shores of Northwest Lower Michigan
Converging Creatives are visual and performing artists coming together to create works of a common theme. Mutual Inspiration is achieved by stepping out of one's comfort zone, and into the shoes of other types of artists, experiencing the creative process from a whole new perspective, while sharing one's own creativity with others. There will be one common theme that all artists interpret in their creative process. Participants will follow ten hour program paths designed specifically for their own particular art form, while interacting with other creatives from very different fields. The outcome is to have a finished work for display and auction at the “Creatives Gala” on Saturday evening. Artists will also have the opportunity to display and sell previously created original artwork, perform live music and sell CDs or performance videos during the four day event. Converging Creatives is open to the public with events on Friday and Saturday evenings, bringing a new arts experience to Northern Michigan, and connecting artists with a wider audience. The Converging Creatives artist registration fee of $200.00 covers all consortium activities, as well as the registration cost for the “Inspirational Arts Exhibition.” It also qualifies artists to bring one original visual work, multiple copies of one CD, or one performance video for display, performance and sale during the event. Converging Creatives facilitates all sales, and receives 25% commission.

Martina delivers a taste of Northern Michigan talent and a unique twist on art. Her talents were discovered at the tender age of three and nurtured throughout her life. As her career as a professional artist is now in its second decade, Martina has established herself as a highly desired and sought-after artistic performer throughout the State of Michigan, the United States and Europe, painting at Corporate Events, Non-Profit Fundraisers, Private Events and Motivational School Assemblies for all age groups, to mention a few. The 2012

Bay Harbor

It is the philosophy of Converging Creatives that creative opportunity and economic opportunity can not be separated. Throughout history, the arts have thrived where the culture is supportive and nurturing. And where communities value the arts, the arts become an economic engine, benefiting the entire community. Converging Creatives does not ask artists to volunteer their time, or donate their work without compensation. The goal of this event is mutual benefit. Program leaders and planners share a percentage of proceeds, and events are designed to provide opportunity for artists to produce income through sales, with only a 25% commission to the organization. Converging Creatives is designed to be a sustainable event, and as it grows, so will the economic and creative benefit to those involved. Event Creator, Jerry Douglas Converging Creatives is an organization of the Jerry Douglas Studio & Gallery. It's mission is to promote the arts culture and economy in Northwest Lower Michigan.
