Group Work Expectations As you work in your discussion groups, it is important that you use your time effectively. The following expectations for group work will help to ensure that you get the most out of this opportunity for collaboration with your peers       Always be respectful of others’ ideas and opinions. Make sure that every member of the group contributes verbally to all aspects of the conversation. Take notes on what the other group members have to say, paying particular attention to areas of strong agreement or disagreement. Be specific in your documentation of group discussions. Avoid responding to questions with simple “yes” or “no” answers. Remember: One word is almost never enough. Make sure that you support any claims that you make with evidence from the text.

The following script will help you to format your responses to discussion questions and foster an engaging conversation. “In Scene 3, Juliet says __________________________. I think this means that she feels _________.” “I disagree. I think it means ______________________. I can support that with the line where she says __________________.” “Have you considered the part in Scene 1 where she says______________________?” Keep these things in mind, and you will have a productive and insightful discussion.
