Time Strategies for Multiple-Choice


Spend the most time on questions you know. If you can eliminate one or more answer choices quickly, guess and move on. If you have no clue, leave it blank. Or, jot down the question number and go back if you have time.

Time Strategies for Essay Questions


You have 40 minutes to spend on each essay, and an extra 15 minutes to prepare for the synthesis essay. Spend 5 to 10 minutes reading and understanding the question. Give yourself 5 minutes to formulate a thesis and outline your main points. Take about 15 to 20 to write. Leave about 5 minutes at the end to proofread.
