Just  as  during  the  pre-‐season  or  in-‐season   prac)ces,  a  decision  must  be  made

to  commit  to   the  goal.    Likewise,  a  disciple  must  make  the   decision  to  follow    Christ  daily:    “If  anyone  is  to   come  aRer  me,  he  must  deny  himself,  take  up  his   cross  daily,  and  follow  me.”  Luke  9:23     Showing  others  the  source  of  your   success  is  important  in  witnessing  to  the   glory  of  God.   “This  is  to  my  father’s  glory,  that  you   bear  much  fruit,  showing  yourselves  to   be  my  disciples.”  John  15:8

Communica)on  with  a  coach  is  like  the  need  for   constant  prayers  in  faith.   “If  you  remain  in  me,  and  my  words  remain  in   me,  ask  whatever  you  wish,  and  it  will  be  given   to  you.”  John  15:7

Keeping  your  focus  on  the  team  as  a   player,  or  on  Christ  as  his  disciple,  is   cri)cal  in  achieving  the  goal.   “I  am  the  vine,  you  are  the  branches,    if  a   man  remains  in  me  and  I  in  him,  he  will   bear  much  fruite;  apart  from  me  he  can   do  nothing.    ”  John  15:5   Every  player  must  study  the  playbook  in  order  to   know  the  plan.    Likewise,  a  disciple  must  study   the  word  to  know  God’s  will.   “If  you  hold  to  my  teachings,  you  are  really  my   disciples;  then  you  will  know  the  truth,  and  the   truth  will  set  you  free.”  John  8:31-‐32

A  football  huddle  before  each  play  is  necessary  to   know  your  teammates  and  what  they  are  doing,   much  like  fellowship  with  other  believers.   “A  new  command  I  give  you,  love  one  another;  as   I  have  loved  you,  so  you  must  love  one  another;   by  this  all  will  know  you  are  my  disciples,  if  you   love  one  another.”  John  13:34-‐35
