Department of Virginia American Legion Riders ride to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Vietnam Welcome Home Celebration

Day 1 - March 30th, 2012 – Virginia to Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Archdale, NC 0730hrs Culpepper to Lynchburg 111.50 miles

Bob Sussan, Brad Watkins, Mike Buxbaum and other riders from the North will meet at the Millstone Family Restaurant (540-825-0960), 891 Willis Lane in Culpepper, VA. We will then head down Route 29 1100hrs Lynchburg to Danville 59.40 miles

The group from the North will meet Herbie Williams and a group from the East at Buffalo Wild Wings (434-237-8111), 3812 Wards Road in Lynchburg, VA. After a bite to eat we will depart at approximately 12:30pm to head south on Route 29 to American Legion Post 135 in Danville, VA. 1400hrs Danville to Archdale, NC 66.48 miles

The groups from the North and East will meet up with Chris Sloan and the group from Petersburg Post 2 at American Legion Post 135, 135 American Legion Blvd. in Danville, VA. Once we feel all the riders that are coming have arrived we will all depart south on Route 29 to the Holiday Inn Express in Archdale, North Carolina. Day 2 - March 31st, 2012 – Holiday Inn, Archdale, NC to Charlotte Motor Speedway to Lynchburg March 31st, 2012 – Depart Hotel in Archdale (please check out we will not return to the hotel) – ride to meet the Buses and then escort to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Celebration and when complete, ride to Lynchburg, Virginia for the end of day and hotel. 0730hrs Depart Holiday Inn, Archdale, NC and ride to Interstate 85 mile marker 101 to meet the buses. 0830hrs Meet the two or three buses of Vietnam Veterans from Danville/South Boston at the Vietnam Memorial on Interstate 85 at mile marker 101. We will then escort the buses south on Interstate 85 to exit 49 ( about 52 miles) to the Zmax Dragway (alternate route is south on US Hwy 29) 1000hrs Arrive at Zmax Dragstrip ( Interstate 85 exit 49 ) – located on US Hwy 29

1630hrs (Departure time can vary depending upon group consensus) - Depart Charlotte Motor Speedway for ride north to Lynchburg. We will be stopping in at Lynchburg American Legion Post 16 to visit with ALR 16 Riders. The evening of the 31st we will be staying at the Quality Inn Lynchburg (434-847-9041) , 3125 Albert Lankford Drive, Lynchburg, VA. (if on I-85 it is 191 miles if on US-29 it is 197miles) Quality Inn Lynchburg (434-847-9041) 3125 Albert Lankford Drive Lynchburg, VA American Legion Post 16 Lynchburg 1301 Greenview Drive Lynchburg, VA Day 3 – Departure for home. Respective groups will make their own departure times for the ride home.
