WASHINTON, D.C. – Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez will be in Washington, D.C. this week to participate in the the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) FederalState Relations Meeting. During the meeting, which runs from March 21-23, Lieutenant Governor Sanchez will have the opportunity to meet with Vice-President Joe Biden, members of Congress, and representatives from the Obama administration. Topics of discussion will focus on a range of issues including the states’ budgets, housing, energy, healthcare, and veterans’ services. This year’s agenda includes meetings with:      The General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; The administration’s leader for fossil fuels; The Energy Secretary’s Counsel on the electric grid; The head of the Veterans Benefits Administration; and The National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

Lieutenant Governor Sanchez will also meet with the Ambassadors of Brazil and Romania to discuss the positive impact of international trade on the states’ budgets, and the head of one of Washington’s premier trade agencies will discuss worldwide trade opportunities for New Mexico businesses. ###
