Jesus has a lot to say about serving!

By reading the Bible, we will meet the Good Samaritan and hear what we can learn about serving others.

Jesus told this story: A man was traveling along a road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Some robbers grabbed him and beat him up. They took everything he had and ran off. Soon a priest came along the same road. He saw the hurt man lying there. He did not stop to help the man. Instead, he crossed the road and kept on going. Later, a Temple helper came along. He also crossed the road and kept going. Then a Samaritan man came along. He was riding on a donkey. He went over to the injured man. He bandaged the man’s wounds. He lifted the man onto the donkey and took him to an inn. He took care of the man all night. The next morning, the Good Samaritan gave the innkeeper two coins and said, “Please look after the man. If you spend more than this on him, I will pay you when I return.” Luke 10:25-37

Choose a simple object to keep in your pocket all day. (You might pick a marble, a rock, a sticker or a bead.) Each time you touch it, say, “I trust in you, Jesus.” If you are nervous or scared, use the object as a reminder Jesus is always with you.

Who did the disciples think they saw on the water?

Practice your memory verse! You can find it in Ephesians 4:32. Practice your memory verse! You can find it in Ephesians 4:32 or right here in your GPS!

While in the car, talk about a time when you trusted Jesus. What happened? What happened during a time when you didn’t trust Him? Which one works out best and how does it feel?

Spend time in prayer. Ask God to help you trust in Him. Thank God that He can be trusted and that you can always count on Him.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.”
