Out In The Rain

November 2008 Old Roan Mega Tigers Vs Sidwell John Roan Playing Fields Not a good start to the days proceedings when, half the regular players were not available to play and with only ten men and Manager Mark Caldecourt on his way back from Brands Hatch, for a cup game against a team 2 divisions above. Sidwell got off to the better start to the game when 2 chances went narrowly close, first from Dave Martin who had his long shot tipped over the bar and secondly from Dan Wilson who cut inside to fire low just into the side netting. Old Roan totally dominated the morning’s game and came out 7-0 winners but Sidwell did have their opportunities. Fine work on the right from Dave Newman in the first half on the right tricked his way past an Old Player to fire across goal for Danny McGill to miss an absolute sitter. Dave Newman himself was on the other end of a Dan McGill cross to volley at goal only for the keeper to fall on the ball and save which he didn’t know much about. Peter Court had a fantastic strike heading for the top corner which was tipped over. Dan Wilson fired wide one on one with the keeper, and the in form Craig Liasi hit the post after a scramble in the box. A few positives to take from the game and we know we had the chances, but it ended a fantastic run of games for Sidwell.
