CONNECTING ROD CALCULATIONS

(i) For 50 bar pressure, F = 15000N
Max σ = 16D*√ (Mt 2+T2)/( π(D4-d4)
And T = (F*dm/2) η
= 15000(35.5/2)/0.04
T= 10,650N-mm
Max σ = 16*45*√ (118422+106502)/3.14*(454-264)
Max σ = 1Mpa<42Mpa
Thus design is safe.
(ii) for 200 bar pressure, F =62360N
Maximum shear stress for connecting rod
Max σ = 16D*√ (Mt 2+T2)/( π(D4-d4)
Where D = outer diameter of the connecting rod = 45mm
d = inner diameter of the connecting rod = 26mm
Mt=9.55E6*Power (Kw)/speed of motor
= 9.55E6*(3.725/3000)
Mt = 11,842 N-mm
And T = (F*dm/2) η
Where
dm = mean diameter =(26+45)/2
= 35.5mm
T = (62360*(35.5/2))*0.04
T = 44275.6N-mm
Max σ = 16*45*√(118422+44275.62)/(3.14(454-264)
= 2.88MPa
Max σ = 2.88MPa < 42 MPa
Thus design is safe.

.(iii) for 1500 bar pressure F = 492000N Max σ = 16D*√ (Mt 2+T2)/( π(D4-d4) And T = (F*dm/2) η T = 349321N-mm Max σ = 16*45*√ (118422+3493212)/3.14(454-264) Maxσ =22Mpa<σ allo=42Mpa Thus Design is safe.
