Bean And Pasta Soup ( Italian Recipe) Ingredients 1/2 cup baked beans (canned) 1 medium onion , sliced

2 garlic (lehsun) cloves , sliced 1 cup chopped tomatoes 1/4 cup macaroni or any small 1 tbsp cornflour 1 tsp dried oregano 2 tbsp cream 2 tbsp tomato ketchup 2 tbsp butter salt and to taste For The Garnish 4 tbsp grated parmesan cheese Method Heat the butter in a pan, add the onion and garlic and saut till the onion tu rns translucent. Add the baked beans, tomatoes, macaroni, salt and 3 cups of hot water and br ing to a boil. Simmer till the macaroni is cooked (aprrox. 8 to 10 minutes). Dissolve the cornflour in 1 1/2 tablespoons of water and add to the soup. Add the oregano, cream, tomato ketchup, salt and freshly ground pepper and m ix well. Serve hot, garnished with the cheese.

Hariyali Dal Ingredients 1 cup uncooked masoor dal (split red lentil) 2 cups greens ( spinach (palak) , fenugreek (methi) leaves and coriander (dhania ) ) 1 chopped onion 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) 2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur) 1 tomato, chopped 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi) 3/4 tsp chilli powder 3 tbsp ghee salt to taste To be ground into a paste 6 cloves of garlic (lehsun) 6 green chillies 25 mm. (1") piece of ginger (adrak) Method Cook the dal separately with 2 cups of water. Heat the ghee on a tava, add the onion and cumin seeds and fry for at least 2 minutes. Add the cooked dal, the greens, amchur powder, tomato, turmeric powder, chil li powder, paste and salt and cook for a few minutes.

Serve hot.
