Kwame’s death was a tragedy and I have given my personal condolences to the family.

In circumstances such as these, I think it is a difficult judgement for politicians to make about if, when and how to contact grieving relatives. In this case, I decided to give the family some space and did not make immediate contact with them. Following the publication of the Standard’s article, from which it was clear that the family did want to speak with me, I made contact and have arranged to call on them at home this Friday. I will also be attending Kwame’s funeral on Friday 13th April.
