know who’ll believe the word of a travelling tradesman. But I am glad you did ask and I shall tell you what happened to me. Well I was riding into Pompeii on my cart with my horse towing me and my cart of goods, and I saw this other tradesman who I knew a bit he was a slave who represented his master but I’d done some trading with him before so we rode on for a bit talking as we went. Now about quarter of an hour later the whole place shook a bit. Now I looked over to Pompeii, where I felt it had come from, and saw a massive cylinder of smoke rising out of the mountain of Vesuvius, and well I stopped to look at it quickly. But then I just continued on, I mean I thought it was just smoke. So I just continued on riding towards Pompeii talking to my friend. Of course it was still gonna be about half an hour later before we got there so anyway on we rode. Then when we where just on the edge of Pompeii some of the big cylinder which was very big by now sort solidified, fell and smashed. It kept doing this though until it was like raining stones. It hit our area of course but I didn’t spread out for that far. But still of course we ran for shelter into a store that was underground. We stayed there for a few hours just terrified.
But my master let me represent him as a tradesman. Then of course he tried to run for it and I told him not to but he wouldn’t listen. he just climbed back out of the way we came in. after he discovered I was one. But the horses were alright. made to run the way we’d come but he was hit hard by the stones and he fell and died. They took me away and sold me into slavery actually. Of course I didn’t go out for a while until I spotted a stable which was being pounded by the stones. So I climbed out of the underground shop made for the horses stable without being hit. Sincerely Yinus Elior . It wasn’t until the next day that I was found. By the relief sent from Rome. I hope this information has been helpful Tacitus. mounted a horse and legged it I made to a few miles away from the city when my horse collapsed from the heat then so did I.
