What was the most pivotal moment in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series?

Star Trek: The Next Generation truly did open the universe of Star Trek to an en tirely new generation. I was born in 1979, and I remember watching every single episode of TNG that I could on my old 13" TV (I had a converter box for our cabl e TV -- kids these days have never seen one!). When I consider all of the well-written and socially relevant episodes of TNG, s panning seven seasons and over 100 episodes, I can list many scenes that are mem orable. However, one scene stands above all when I look for the "most pivotal". In the episode "Q Who?" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_Who), the Enterprise is flung by the alien Q deep into a sector of unexplored space, far from the most d istant reaches of the Federation. It is here that the ship encounters the mysterious and horrifying Borg race, whi ch even a casual Star Trek fan will recognize as they have appeared in multiple episodes of 4 series, 2 movies, countless books, and video games. The Borg attac k the Enterprise and kill 18 of her crew. Soon after, Q flings the Enterprise ba ck into the relative safety of Federation space. The closing scene of the episode features Captain Picard (who would later be "as similated" by the Borg and forced to serve as their leader) speaking with Guinan (the ship's bartender, though hundreds of years old, with a personal experience with the Borg). Guinan often counsels Picard, and the two have an unexplained c onnection and trust that runs very deep. Guinan leads Picard to the realization that this encounter with the Borg would n ot be their last. The most chilling line in the episode, and some would argue th e series, is spoken by Picard: "They will be coming". They certainly did come. And Earth was never the same. Fact: This episode won two Emmy awards (http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Q_Who).
