Shots Fired -Officer Involved Accident


At 2230 hours on 3-29-12 GRPD Officers responded to a noise complaint in the 700 block of Butterworth SW. As the initial Officers arrived they heard shots fired from nearby. The officers began foot pursuit of two subjects that fled from the location of the shots. Multiple GRPD and MSP units responded to assist in the incident. One suspect was caught shortly after additional units arrived on scene. The second suspect was located by a GRPD Police Dog K-9 Liam about 30 minutes after the incident started. A detailed search of the flight area turned up a discarded handgun. The two suspects are 23 and 29 year old males from Grand Rapids. They were both lodged at KCCF on multiple charges stemming from the incident. During the initial deployment and active foot pursuit, two cruisers struck each other.
