Second Grade students celebrating Dr. Seuss Day with the Cat in the Hat
Every year on March 2nd, schools around the world celebrate Dr. Seusss Birthday. This year was no different for March Elementary. The day was lled with events both school-wide and classroom based.

Some events were: - Troy Hein from Chanel 69 news and author of Jay at Play, read Oh the Places youll Go to our 3rd and 4th High School Students graders. - Robert Moskaitis, a Easton School Board member, read to our PM Kindergarten. - Janet Matthews, a Easton School Board member, also read. - Mrs. Steinberg read to our 1st and 2nd graders - EAHS Ambassders share the day with us. - Cat in the Hats in Training (article on pg 2) - Students were given Cat in the Hat presents (bookmark and pencil) after naming as many Dr. Seusss books as possible. - More on the next page

In library students were able to read and work with Dr. Seuss Characters
Another activity done was estimating how long their foot was using different types of measurement.
Mrs. Laslos 2nd grade class did a Whoville Diner" activity, were they needed to add certain menu items together and gure out their change.
" On March 2, 2012 we had Cat in the Hats in Training reading to all our classrooms. " The Cat in the Hats in Training were 3rd and 4th grade students who choose a Dr. Seuss book and read it to different classes through out the day. The students received Cat in the Hat hats for reading. Some were also able to read with EAHS ambassadors. " Cat in the Hats in Training are part of our year long Student Mystery Reader program. Students sign up at the start of the year to read to classrooms at different points in the year. This was our second event of the school year. The rst was when students read versions of The Night Before Christmas in December.
Mrs. Wilcoxs class and Mrs. Gottliebs ESL class made a special memory book for 1st grader Bradley on his last day at March school. Bradley will be attending Paxinosa school next week. He is looking forward to meeting his new teachers and new friends.
Our children then performed grade level productions at the March Pride Day Assembly to share what was learned!
First in Math
An online math program with games to practice all areas of math skills. It can be played both at school and home.

Congratulations to our EAHS Ambassadors
We are very proud of our students and our PTA for all their hardwork. The night was a great success.
The F. A. March School staff and students send very warm congratulations to the EAHS Student Ambassadors on receiving the EAEA Partner in Education award for the month of February. The support and dedication showed by each ambassador throughout various activities with March School students is very much appreciated by the school community. Thank you from all of us at F.A. March!
Dental Health
For the month of February, the Little Leopards have been busy collecting, sorting and counting Box Tops. We have collected 1,025 Box Tops. First grade is on top this month, bringing in 312 Box Tops. Our total for the year continues to grow! We have collected 9,564 Box Tops this year!
" First and Second Grade, the librarian, Miss Kordek does Pennsylvania Young Readers Choice Award. " Miss Kordek reads books from the Young Readers Choice Award list created by teachers and librarians. While reading the stories Miss Kordek and the students discuss what they liked and did not like about the different books. They also discuss that it is alright not to like some books. Students then get to vote on the book that they like the best using Google Surveys. All studentss votes are sent into the state to be counted to nd the top book for all the state. We will not know until April what won for the state. It was a very tight race with Zig and Wikki in Something Ate my Homework, Dino-Baseball, and Lets Do Nothing coming in close
Jazzercise
Students get to take a fun break and get a little exercise in also. For a mid-week break during PSSAs 3rd & 4th grade students participated in a 20 min. Jazzercise routine led by Pam Capaldi of the Forks Township Community Center.
