Strategies : i) Teacher shows to the class cards of different denominations of currency notes, (RM 1, RM 2, RM 5, RM 10, RM 50, RM 100). ii) Teacher shows to the class cards of different denominations of currency coins, (1 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen, 50 sen) iii) Teacher guides pupils to read out the values of notes and coins shown by placing the card of value with symbol ‘sen’ and ‘RM’ under the notes and coins respectively. iv) Teacher then guides the pupils to write the value with the symbol ‘sen’ or ‘RM’ of the notes and coins shown to them. v) Teacher guides the pupils to add up the value of notes and coins shown in the picture cards. vi) Teacher asks pupils to find out what type of notes or coins and how many of them should be used to buy several things which have price tags. vii) Teacher gives exercises to the pupils : Find out the equivalent value of currency notes by addition with denominations of various combinations. Select a few things from the various articles which have price tags to match the currency notes given.
