Law Office of Michael D. J. Eisenberg 700 12th Street, NW, Suite 700 Washington DC 20005-4052 Dear Mr. Eisenberg: Subj: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST

This responds to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of January 24, 2008, in which you requested a copy of Family Advocacy Program records for Paul J, Skovranko, Stacy L. Skovranko, and H Skovranko. Your request was assigned file number MCRDPI-2008-08-010. Our search for records focused on the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) on Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Despite a diligent search, we were unable to locate responsive documents. Four years after a file is closed, FAP records are mailed to the National

Personnel Center, 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63132-1547.

If a

case is unsubstantiated or unresolved, the file is shredded one year from the date it is closed. Fees associated with the processing of your request are waived in this instance. If you believe that an adequate search was not conducted, you may consider this an adverse determination of your request that may be appealed, in writing, to the Judge Advocate General of the Navy (Code 14), 1322 Patterson Avenue, Suite 3000, Washington Navy Yard, DC 20374-5066. Your appeal must be postmarked within 60 calendar days from the date of this letter to be considered. A statement to the effect that you believe a diligent search was not conducted should be included and a copy of this letter should be attached. Both the appeal letter and the envelope should bear the notation "Freedom of Information Act Appeal." If my office can be of any further assistance, please contact me at (843) 228-4495.
