Steinhauser, Superintendent Long Beach Unified School District District Dear Superintendent Steinhauser, In light of recent news related to teacher misconduct at Miramonte School in Los Angeles, we are reviewing the manner in which local school districts handle complaints of inappropriate behavior by teachers. This letter is to request access to records in the possession of the Long Beach Unified School District for purpose of inspection and copying, pursuant to the California Public Records Act, Government Code Section 6250 et seq. The records I am seeking are: * Access to and copies of the district policy on teacher conduct * The policy for reporting and investigating claims of misconduct * The status of any and all investigations into teacher misconduct dating back to the 2006-07 school year * Copies of any forms sent to the state demanding the revocation of teacher credentials due to misconduct dating back to the 2006-07 school year. In the interest of public disclosure, I expect any and all fees to be waived. If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, Kelly Puente Staff Writer Press-Telegram
