Auburn

Approximately 20 km west of Sydney’s CBD lies the colorful suburb of Auburn (no pun intended). This vibrant area was given its name from a poem by Oliver Goldsmith, a renowned 18th Century poet. The first lines of his poem, The Deserted Village, are, “Sweet Auburn! Loveliest village of the plain, where health and plenty cheered the labouring swain”. However, unlike the sentiments of the poem, Sydney’s Auburn is definitely not deserted. According to the 2006 census this throbbing suburb was home to approximately 30,000 residents but the population is now estimated to be much higher. It is known as one of the major multicultural areas in Australia. It is part of the local government area known as Auburn City. The surrounding suburbs of Auburn are Rosehill, Lidcombe, Regents Park and South Granville. Thousands of the Auburn residents who work outside this suburb opt to drive to their places of work. It is important for immigrants to apply for new driving licenses within three months of their arrival. Those who intend to brush up on their driving abilities can take some ‘catch up’ driving lessons Sydney. A well-known landmark in Auburn is the Auburn Botanic Gardens. Both animal lovers and bird lovers enjoy the walks and trails in this expansive outdoor recreational park. It is also wheelchair friendly and, in addition, small buses are available for visitors with disabilities. The Fauna Reserve, which was opened in 1994, is an added attraction for residents and visitors. A choice of shopping centers is available. The Homemakers Mega Mall is a popular venue for the residents. It is conveniently accessed on Parramatta Road, one of the main routes that run through Sydney’s suburbs. There are other shopping complexes in Mary Street and Junction Street. Auburn is also a commercial and industrial region, which accounts for a high percentage of the residents who are involved in manufacturing and the retail trade. The Auburn railway station provides goods marshalling yards and other facilities for the industries in the area. Schools and colleges are plentiful in Auburn. There are also numerous schools and educational institutions that reflect and cater for various cultural backgrounds. Those who wish to continue with a tertiary education need look no further than the University of Sydney. This public university stretches across various suburbs and over 49,000 students currently attend its various faculties. Driving lessons Auburn is a sure method of teaching young students to drive as soon as possible. Entertainment is plentiful in this multicultural suburb. Restaurants and coffee bars cater for all taste palettes and cultural preferences. A Northern Beaches driving school Inner West can be contacted for parents who want their children to learn to drive as soon as possible. It’s definitely the best way to get to the hub of the suburb at night. This vibrant and trendy suburb and its surrounding areas provide a welcoming environment for its visitors and overseas tourists.
