DONE BY- NITHISH PRABHU T MECHANICAL ENGG.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND ITS OBJECTIVES

Constitutes of Springs , shock absorbers , linkages that connects the vehicle to its wheels Contributes to road handling and braking for safety, comfort and isolating the car from noise, vibrations and bumps Provides required traction as best as possible by looking at contact patch and wheel alignments. Tuning of suspension involves the right compromise for above objectives which is met by following actions:

DESIGNING THE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION

USING THE CONCEPT OF UNEQUAL LENGTH UNPARALLEL A-ARMS. CHECKING THE SPRING RATE AND WHEEL RATE OF SPRINGS AND SETTING IT IN ACCORDANCE WITH FSAE REGULATIONS ABOUT JOUNCE AND REBOUNCE. BY CHECKING THE ROLL STIFFNESS OF THE CAR BY USING APPROPRIATE STABILISER BARS CAMBER CONTROL WITHIN -1 TO -2 AND TOEING. OPTIMISING CORNERING ABILITIES AND TRACTION FOR AUTOCROSS AND SKIDPAD EVENTS. CHECKING UNSPRUNG AND SPRUNG WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION.
