Jesus and His disciples got into a boat. They wanted to cross the sea.

Jesus took a nap. The waves began to gently rock the boat back and forth. Then suddenly a great storm appeared! Waves splashed up over the sides of the boat. Big winds blew the disciples. They woke Jesus up and shouted, “The boat is sinking! Do you care?” Jesus asked, “Why are you so afraid? Do you have faith?” Then Jesus told the storm to stop and right away, it was calm. The disciples were amazed. They said to each other, “Who is this man named Jesus? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!” -Luke 8:22-25

While sharing a family meal, ask each person to tell about a time when he or she felt frightened or scared. What did each person do to feel more peaceful? Remind your family Jesus is always with each person. We can always pray to Jesus and He will help us. Have an adult or older child read the prayer below, pausing after a few words for the rest of the family to repeat after him/her. Dear God/Thank you for Jesus./When I am scared/help me to remember/to spend time with You./Thank you/for loving me./Amen.
