WEATS NIGERIA LIMITED TRANSPORT SAFETY FOR DRIVERS Motor Vehicle In the majority of traffic accidents, human behavior

is shown to be the prime or sole cause. Traffic accidents will significantly decrease when all persons driving a vehicle improve their safety awareness, behavior and skills. General 1. nothing in this regulation will supersede or be interpreted to supersede items as laid down in the local Traffic laws. 2. Drivers of Company vehicles must be in possession of a local current driving license. Drivers must be fully conversant with and comply with the requirements of all local traffic regulations. They must also conform to the Company Regulations regarding speeds and all other regulations controlling the use of roads in the area. 3. Learner drive only when receiving instruction and when accompanied by the examiner or instructor. 4. Every vehicle accidents must be reported as laid down by the Company, using Vehicle Accident form. OPERATIONS OF VEHICLES 1. Each employee is directly responsible for the safe operation of any vehicle he may be operating. 2. it is the individual responsibility of each employee to have a valid drivers license to operate each type of vehicle he may be required to operate. 3. Legal speed limits must not be exceeded. Speed limit must be judged according to weather and road conditions travelling at the time and adjusted accordingly. 4. picking up hitchhikers or other, persons not directly connected with the Company is prohibited. 5. Employees operating company vehicles must be in proper physical conditions at all times. They are not to operate Company Vehicles if their ability to drive would be affected by illness, drugs or intoxication. 6. Operators of Company Vehicles must be properly rested at all times. If the driver becomes sleepy, he should halt the vehicle at the side off the road and take a nap or take coffee break and continue only when he feels sufficiently alert to drive. 7. All vehicles must be kept in safe operating condition at all times. Any unsafe condition shall be reported to your Supervisor and corrected immediately. 8. When a Company Vehicle is used for personal reasons, employees should be aware that they are disregarding the use they are authorized to make of the vehicle, and that legally they will be liable for any damages caused while using the vehicle for other that Company business. 9. Company vehicles that are equipped with seat belts for the safety of the occupants must be used whenever the vehicle is in motion. 10. Any equipment to be hauled in a pickup that is of such length it will not lay flat within the length of the bed, is to be loaded with the butt end against the tail gate with the long end over the headache rack. When equipment is loaded to this manner, it shall be securely tied to prevent it from moving around.

WEATS NIGERIA LIMITED 11. no equipment, such as gin poles, lubricators, load binders, etc. shall extend beyond the width of the bed on any type vehicle. 12. when hauling skid units, power packs or any other equipment, it shal be securely fastened to the bed of the vehicle with chains and load binders to prevent any movement of equipment while in transit. 13. All vehicle accident must be reported in accordance with company policy regardless of how minor it may seem. Failure to report a vehicle accident shall be casue for dismissal. Drivers Responsibilities Drivers shall comply with the following basic rules - Always observe traffic rules specially speed limits. - Never drive after consuming Alcoholic drinks (prohibited by the Company) or certain medicines/drugs. - Take regular stops when driving long distances. - Always wear a seat belt to minimize injuries in the event of an accident. WEAR OF SEAT BELT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL COMPANY VEHICLES. - Check the exterior of the vehicle for secure tailboards, loose ropes etc. - Never overload the vehicle. - Drive defensively; haste kills. - Be sure that, before starting the vehicle, the area near and under the vehicle is free from persons or animals (asleep). - Check all lights and signal before commencing journeys. Parking Vehicles 1. Engines of vehicles must not be left running when a vehicle is parked in an enclosed space. i.e. closed garage, warehouse. 2. Vehicles left unattended must have the engine stopped and hand bake applied. If a vehicle is parked on a steep incline the wheels must be choked and/or the engine put into gear. Vehicle Requirements The front seats of all company vehicles shall be equipped with seat belts. Drivers and front seated passengers shall wear a seat at all times during a journey. All company vehicles shall be regularly inspected and well maintained.
