here are so many wonderful things to look forward to as spring finally approaches. New growth on trees, bushes and beautiful flowers that will always brighten anyones day! My yard is filled with happy, chirping birds that sing all day long as they continue to search for food and build their nests. They seem to labor constantly, but sing joyously as if they dont mind working. Their happy sound encourages me while thinking of the many activities coming up this spring at Ridgecrest. Our annual Easter Festival will be Saturday, April 7th, from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. on the big playground behind Ridgecrest. Plans are already being made for Vacation Bible School which will be Sunday, June 10th, through Wednesday, June 13th, 5:30-8:30 p.m. each night. The theme this year is Amazing Wonders Aviation. The children will visit some of the worlds greatest natural wonders as they encounter an awesome God and His amazing power. Psalm 147:5 tells us, Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Plan now to attend VBS and help our children learn of Gods great love for us and His awesome power! arch Madness is the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. This single elimination tournament determines who will be the national champion of the elite college basketball world. College basketball fans live for this time of year just as many football fans live for college football season and the BCS bowl series. Often sports fans become melancholy after the adrenalin rush of a championship game and can hardly wait for the excitement of next season. As Christians we are sometimes like that. Always waiting for the next exciting event, conference, service or program our church has to offer. We are let down when the excitement wears off of our Christian experience and can hardly wait for the rush of the next big thing. Remember that the health of our church and the success of our Christian life are not measured by how many mountain top experiences or exciting events we have, but by our consistent, steady service to God. Lets not live for the next big thing, the next emotional experience to get us through our Christian life. Instead lets learn to live for Him daily, gaining personal joy from our relationship with the Lord as we glorify him through the mountains and valleys of life and everywhere in between. Remember you pastor loves you, Bro. Mike

hroughout February, the month we celebrate love, our youth ministry focused on love, friendship and serving. The youth were challenged to live out the great commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. They met the challenge head on starting with the Youth Valentine Banquet, attended by our youth, their guests, friends, and youth from the neighborhood. During the banquet we focused on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and how to apply that scripture to our everyday lives. We also dressed up, laughed, and enjoyed being with friends. The Youth followed up the next day by hosting the I Love You Banquet for the Senior Adults. The Youth showed their love and appreciation for our Seniors by serving them. The highlight of the I Love You Banquet was a stroll down memory lane and seeing what

our seniors looked like when they would have been in the Youth and Childrens Ministries! Februarys activities were capped off by Discipleship Now, where the Youth studied Proverbs 18:24b a verse on friendship, then put it into practice. The Youth worshiped together, fellowshipped together, played together, ate together and then went out and shared their faith with the neighbors in our community together. The youth hosted a block party at Cypress Court Apartments for approximately 175 people, where they played games with their neighbors, did face painting, held a puppet show, sang songs and fed both their bodies (225 hot dogs served) and their souls through witnessing and sharing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! Please pray for our youth as they strive to live out the lessons they learned over the past month on love, friendship, service and for the challenges they face everyday. Blessings, Tom
