1.2RESEARCH DESIGN
The research is a combination of both descriptive and numerical data. So, it is bilateral in nature.

Descriptive Data Analysis:

The data is arranged in a structured format and the analysis of the data is made to identify the reasons for which the students go for ITI and it also tells us the qualification level with their acquired division which makes them to prefer ITI. The descriptive data also tells us to know the minimum qualification level required by an individual which make them eligible for the faculty post in an ITC institute.

Numerical Data Analysis:

This data is again arranged in a structured format which helps in identifying the annual family income level of the students also gives brief information regarding the number of members in the family and the number of brothers or sisters they have. The gathered information also helps us to know the number of students interested to join ITI or are passed out of it. It also gives a clear idea about the range of age for the students pursuing their ITI course. Bringing the attention towards the faculty members the numerical information we have given a clear idea about their salary structure and the variation in salary as they gain experience or attend some training programmes.

1.2 DATA COLLECTION SOURCES

Secondary Data Source
Information regarding the project, secondary data was also required. These data were collected from various past studies and other sources like newspapers and websites which qualified as reliable. The secondary information include data like the names of colleges comes within the limits of Bhubaneswar and the number of trade they have with their appropriate location. Other information like number of students appearing for the matriculation exam and among those how many go for ITI.

Primary Data Source

The data is collected from the students and faculties of different ITI collages in Bhubaneswar Region. The data was collected in both structured and unstructured format. The structured format of data collection includes a questionnaire designed for both the students and faculty members. The In the unstructured way of data collection a semi structured questionnaire was designed only for the faculty members containing the questions to get information regarding their personal details like their qualification, years of experience and their contact information.

Research Instrument
We have used a structured and a semi structured questionnaire as our research instrument.

1.5 SAMPLING PLAN

We have used the stratified random sampling method to divide the total population and accordingly select the sample size. We have distributed all the ITI colleges in Bhubaneswar i.e. about 65 colleges in three parts based on the number of trades they have and randomly selected four colleges from each stratified division.

Target Population:
Total number of ITI colleges within Bhubaneswar.

Sampling Unit:
The total number of students pursuing their ITI courses when the research was conducted. The total number of regular or non-regular faculties working at the time of research.

Sampling Method:
Stratified Random Sampling method is used to conduct the research.

Sample Size:
The total sample size we have selected is 12 students from randomly selected 12 colleges by applying the stratified sampling technique. So the total sample size of research is 144 students excluding faculty members.

1.6ANALYTICAL TOOL
Tabular and Graphical representation. Hypothesis Testing

1.7CONTRIBUTION OF THE STUDY

This study reveals preferential criteria of the students after matriculation towards ITI. It also tells about their financial condition and the type of help given to these students. This study also divulges the salary given to the faculty members and the reasons why the students join ITI. This information can help the management to accordingly plan their strategies and thus the research may be proved beneficial.

1.8LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

As the time given to complete the project is lesser than actual time required completing similar studies, the quality of findings may get affected. The sample size is 144(for thousands), thus the findings from the same may not be representative of the actual population. In cooperation of the management of the ITI colleges in revealing actual salary details may also affect the outcome. As most of the ITI students are under aged they are not considered to be matured enough to properly respond to each question which may also be crucial factor affecting the project outcome.

Introduction:
Industrial Training Institutes & "Industrial Training Centers" are training institute which provide training in technical field and constituted under Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Union Government of India. Structure & Worldwide centres Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are government-run training organizations. Industrial Training Centres (ITCs) are privately-run equivalents. They provide post-school technical training. In 2002 there were 1800 ITIs, providing 373 000 training places, and 2850 ITCs providing 305 000 places.400 ITIs in India, covered under the scheme Up gradation into Centers of Excellence Its a Vocational Training Improvement Project with World Bank Assistance Access to ITIs Normally a person who has passed 10 standard (SSLC) is eligible for admission to ITI. The objective of opening of ITI is provide technical manpower to industries. These persons are trained in basic skills required to do jobs of say operator or a craftsman. The course in ITI is designed in way to impart basic skill in the trade specified. The duration of course may vary from one year to three years depending upon trade opted. After completion of desired period of training the person is eligible to appear in the AITT ( All India Trade Test ) conducted by NCVT( National Council for Vocational training ). After successfully passing AITT, the person is awarded NATIONAL TRADE CERTIFICATE (NTC)in concerning trade by NCVT. After passing ITI course a person may opt to undergo practical training in his trade in an industry for a year or two. Again the person has to appear & pass in a test to be conducted by NCVT to get the NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP CERTIFICATE . There are both government funded and private (self-financing) ITI's in India. Most of ITI's impart training in technical trades like instrument mechanic, electrician, fitter, plumber, diesel mechanic, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), electrical mechanic, Information Technology, Mechanic Computer Hardware, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Turner, Welder, etc. Industrial Training Centre (ITC's) are

self financing and provide same courses as ITI's. Trade test for ITI and ITC trainees are common. The certificate issued by NCVT are of same standard whether one had a training in Government owned ITI or privately owned ITC.

Opportunities after ITI People of engineering trade can go for higher studies like diploma in engineering. There are also specialized short term courses in Advanced Training Institute (ATI) which enhances the skills of candidates. ITI qualified persons can set up their own garage, motor/generator/transformer winding shops or fabrication shops depending upon trade opted. Also candidates can apply for jobs in private sector and public sectors. Government organisations like Indian Army, Navy, Airforce and also paramilitary forces like BSF, CRPF provide opportunities for ITI passed candidates. ITI Profile In Odisha

Odisha signs MOUs with 8 companies for Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) To bridge the gap between the available skilled manpower and demand from the upcoming industries, the Orissa government today signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with eight mega industries for setting up quality Industrial Training Centres (ITCs) in the state. The companies which inked the agreement with the government are Orissa Power Generation Corporation (Hemagiri), Tata Power Ltd (Banki), Emami Paper Mills (Balgopalpur), RSB Metaltech (P) Ltd (Kalyansinghpur), Surrendra Mining Industries Ltd (Bonei), Monnet Ispat and Energy Ltd (Teleibani), Uttam Utkal Steels (Jhumpura), Ind-Barath Energy (Utkal) Ltd (Lakhanpur). Though twenty seven industries and public sector undertakings had evinced interest to set up ITCs in the state, eight have signed the MoU in the first phase. As per the MoU, the government would identify and transfer the land required for setting up the ITCs. The sponsoring companies would have to develop the required infrastructure in those centres as per the norms of National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT). However, the mega industries would have to pay for the land whether it is government or private land. The admission to the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics and degree engineering colleges has increased from 30,000 to 1.2 lakh per annum in the last decade 1. Page 46 of 50

Our Hypothesis testing says that There is a relation between the annual income and students entering into ITI. 1. We can target those students having qualification 10th and their annual income level is in the range of 80000rs to 60000rs, 60000rs to 40000rs or below 40000rs can be mobilized to enter into ITI. We can find students of from rural area having income level less 1 lacks. For that we can target BPL category families.
2. Last five years matriculation result indicates that there is a total average of 75.18% of failed and 3rd division students.

3. Our study it indicates that there is about 55% of students who have 3 rd division in matriculation are pursuing ITI. So we can focus on students of those standards. 4. Excluding matriculation 3rd division students there also a major part about 25% students from intermediate arts. We have to find the source and accordingly we should proceed. We can focus to target them also. 5. As the average percentage of the students is about 70% whose age lies between 17-19 years. So it shows that they directly enter into vocational courses like ITI after the completion of matriculation. We can focus in mobilizing them to enter into ITI. 6. Study reveals that 56% students wishes to go for job after completion of their ITI so there is the scope that we ca motivate them towards vocational courses offering good placements. 7. Also 37% students are willing to go for higher education like diploma course after completion of ITI. So there is the hope for entering into Diploma course accordingly we can setup special course. 8. The study shows that most number of students(84) going for ITI has a total number of family members ranging from 3 to 5. The next range of family members having most number of students is 5 to 7(47). As most of the families have 3 to 5 members and also the income level is not show high students after ITI mostly prefer to go for job as they are more conscious of career rather higher education. we can attract them towards ITI and other vocational courses providing better education and facilities. 9. Excluding 22% from khurda 19% from Bhubaneswar there 13% students from Jagatsingpur who are entering into ITI. 10.As most of the students are interested to go towards electrical and fitter there is the hope for developing more seats as well as courses and facilities towards these trades.

In this study, we found that students with lower grades either in matriculation or intermediate prefer to join ITI. The number of students joining ITI directly depends on the number of students appearing for matriculation and the number of students acquiring lower grades or getting failed. Larger the percentage more is the chances of students going for ITI. The students join ITI with an aim of getting a job. And the students having their family incomes is low or are below poverty level mainly go for ITI with an expectation of getting a job. As a developing country and India having a huge mass of population most of the companies are interested in investing in Indian markets. So there in a good chance for the ITI students to get a job and the Institutes giving a high placement per year. The faculty qualification requirement for most of the institutes in Bhubaneswar is either ITI or Diploma in a specific trade. The salary range in almost same for many institutes it only varies in few well established institutes who pay in a bit higher rate though the difference is marginally low.
